X-ray films and chest stand
X-Ray means a type of radiation, most precisely an electromagnetic radiation. This radiation technique is used to get the picture of the inside of our body. For different parts of the body, X-Ray shows different colours, this is so because the absorption of radiation for different tissues is different for each body part. Our bones absorb the most, so it looks white, soft tissues and fat absorbs partially, so they look grey, and air in lungs absorbs least, so they look black lead apron.
X-RAY FILMS:
X-Ray film unveils the radiographic picture. It contains an emulsion (double or single) of Silver halide (AgBr is common) which when left under the light, yields an electron along with a silver ion. The electron gets connected to the sensitivity specks and forces the silver ion towards itself. Thus, the silver ion gets attached to the sensitivity specks and clumps of silver(metallic) are produced, which are black coloured.
Layers-
-
Base: polyester or cellulose triacetate.
-
Substratum: an adhesive layer containing solvents that bind emulsion and base and gelatin.
-
Emulsion: gelatin and silver halide, along with few hardening agents.

Precautionary layer: gelatin.
The total width of the X-Ray film is around 0.25 mm.

X-RAY CHEST STANDS:
Chest X-Ray utilizes a little amount of ionizing radiation to get images of the inside of the chest of our body. It is used to examine the heart, lungs and chest wall. It may be utilized to help detect a persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain fever, or an injury. It can help in diagnosis and recording treatment for different lung conditions such as emphysema, pneumonia and cancer. As X-Ray of Chest is easy and fast, it is quite useful in emergency treatment and diagnosis.
Process-
The Chest X-Ray happens in a special room with a mobile X-Ray camera combined with a large metal arm. You will be asked stand just next to a “plate".
The technician will capture both front and side views of the chest. While taking images, you’ll be asked to hold breath so that the chest stays completely still. If you don’t, the pictures might turn out non-clear.
